Sculk
In Minecraft, the deep dark biome is home to a unique family of blocks known as the "sculk" family. This family includes sculk blocks, sculk catalysts, sculk sensors, calibrated sculk sensors, sculk shriekers, and sculk veins. Sculk blocks are commonly found in the deep dark and can also be generated by sculk catalysts, which convert surrounding blocks into sculk family blocks when a mob or player that drops experience dies nearby, except for more sculk catalysts. Sculk sensors detect nearby vibrations and output redstone signals, triggering nearby sculk shriekers as well. Sculk shriekers emit a shriek when activated by players, and if naturally generated, they can summon a warden and inflict the Darkness effect. Sculk veins are non-solid blocks that typically attach to the surfaces of other blocks. All sculk family blocks can be quickly mined with a hoe, and all but sculk veins drop experience when mined with a non-Silk Touch tool. These blocks form the unique landscape and mechanics of the deep dark biome and play an important role in the game.
