In Minecraft, the Skeleton Skull is an uncommon decorative item modeled after the head of a skeleton. Players cannot craft Skeleton Skulls using a crafting table or furnace; instead, they must be obtained through specific methods. The most common way to acquire one is when a Skeleton is killed by a charged Creeper explosion, which has a chance of dropping the skull. Additionally, Skeleton Skulls can naturally generate in ancient cities found within the deep dark biome. A Skeleton Skull can be mined with any tool, dropping itself when broken. Besides being used as a decoration, placed atop or on the side of blocks, it can also be worn by players as a helmet, similar to a pumpkin, reducing the detection range of Skeletons. Placing a Skeleton Skull above a note block makes it play the skeleton's ambient sound. In Bedrock Edition, all mobs killed by the same charged Creeper drop their heads, while in Java Edition only one is randomly chosen. The skull can also be obtained through commands, using /give, with its ID varying between versions. Skeleton Skulls can be enchanted via an anvil and are used to craft other items in mods like RLCraft.
