Snow
In Minecraft, snow is a common ground cover block found on the surface of snowy biomes, and can be replenished during snowfall. In Java Edition, destroying snow with a non-Silk-Touch shovel yields snowballs, and explosions also yield snowballs. Mining snow with a Silk Touch shovel drops a snow block or snow itself. In Bedrock Edition, shovels yield 1-4 snowballs when breaking snow, depending on the layer thickness. Snow can naturally generate in snowy and cold biomes, as well as randomly during snowfall. Snow can cover grass blocks, turning their surface white, without damaging farmland. Snow layers can be used to prevent fall damage and coexist with certain plants. Snow melts near heat sources. A unique snow type, powder snow, causes players and most mobs to sink and take freezing damage, but leather boots grant immunity. Snow serves various purposes in Minecraft, making it a crucial element for building and exploration.
