Soul fire is a special type of fire in Minecraft, distinguished by its dim turquoise color, unlike the orange-yellow of normal fire. It's primarily created by igniting fire on soul sand or soul soil and, unlike normal fire, soul fire does not spread, burning only in place. While the soul fire block can't be obtained through regular means, it can be acquired via inventory editing in Bedrock Edition. Soul fire inflicts higher damage to players and mobs and also repels piglins. This type of fire naturally generates in the Nether's soul sand valley biome and is also found in ancient cities. Soul fire can be used for cooking, provides light, and is used in crafting other soul fire items, such as soul torches and soul campfires. Soul campfires cook food faster and emit dimmer light. Soul fire is a unique and useful type of fire in Minecraft, playing a role in various in-game mechanics and creature interactions.
