  • English: Tuff
In Minecraft, Tuff is a decorative rock formed from volcanic ash, typically found in underground ore blobs, particularly below Y=16. It was added in the Caves & Cliffs update in 2021. Tuff generates in the Overworld, attempting to generate 2 times per chunk in blobs of size 0-864, from elevations -64 to 0. It can replace stone, andesite, diorite, granite, and deepslate. Any ore that generates in tuff will appear in its deepslate variety. Tuff drops an item if mined with any pickaxe; otherwise, it drops nothing. Primarily used for decoration, it can also be used to craft its slab, stairs, and wall variants, and polished tuff, which can be further crafted into chiseled tuff and tuff bricks. Game mechanics wise, Tuff has a hardness of 1.5 and a blast resistance of 6. While in earlier versions, it was used in the outer layer of amethyst geodes, it has been replaced by smooth basalt in later versions. Besides decorative uses, it can produce a "bass drum" sound when placed under note blocks.
