Beetroot
Beetroot is a food and dye ingredient in Minecraft. It can be obtained by harvesting fully grown crops, which drop 1 beetroot and 1-4 beetroot seeds. These crops can be found growing in villages or grown from planted beetroot seeds. Eating beetroot restores 1 hunger point and 1.2 hunger saturation. Six beetroots can be crafted into beetroot soup, which restores six times the hunger and saturation of a single beetroot. Beetroot can also be used to breed pigs, and pigs will follow players holding beetroot. Villagers pick up beetroots to become willing to breed, needing 12 beetroots before breeding. Placing a beetroot in a composter has a 65% chance of raising the compost level by 1. Novice-level farmer villagers have a 25% (Bedrock Edition only) or 40% (Java Edition only) chance to buy 15 beetroots for an emerald. Beetroot seeds can be obtained by breaking fully grown beetroot plants or finding them in village farms, or purchased from wandering traders. Beetroot first appeared in the game in February 2016.
