In Minecraft, a Bucket of Salmon is a unique item consisting of a water bucket containing a live salmon. It cannot be crafted using a crafting table or furnace; instead, it must be obtained by finding a salmon in the game and capturing it using a water bucket. Salmon are typically found in cold oceans, frozen oceans, and river biomes. To acquire a Bucket of Salmon, players must first locate a salmon, then hold a water bucket and use it on the salmon. Upon success, the bucket will appear to contain a live salmon, and the message “Bucket of Salmon” will appear on the screen. The Bucket of Salmon can be used to transport salmon around in the game, and when used, it releases the salmon while placing water. Salmon captured and released this way will not despawn like naturally spawned salmon. Additionally, a Bucket of Salmon can be found in the creative inventory, and can be obtained with commands, which vary by game version. Salmon cannot survive out of water, flopping around until suffocating, and are weak to weapons with the Impaling enchantment. The Bucket of Salmon is similar to other buckets of aquatic mobs like the bucket of cod, bucket of tropical fish, and bucket of pufferfish, and gives players more ways to interact with aquatic life.
