A Copper Ingot is a metal ingot in Minecraft, obtainable through smelting Raw Copper or by killing Drowned. It was introduced in the game's Caves & Cliffs Update (version 1.17). Copper ingots are primarily used for crafting various items and tools, such as armor and weapons. Players can obtain copper ingots by smelting raw copper in a furnace or blast furnace, or they may be dropped by Drowned mobs upon being defeated. Additionally, mining copper ore with a Silk Touch tool will directly yield the ore itself, which can then be smelted into ingots. Copper Ingots can also be used for compact storage, with a copper block being equivalent to nine copper ingots. In Minecraft, copper also exhibits an oxidation mechanic where, when exposed to air, it will gradually oxidize through stages, changing its color. Players can use honeycombs to wax the copper, preventing oxidation, or use an axe to scrape off the oxidation.
