Elytra

Elytra are a rare, endgame item in Minecraft that allows players to glide through the air. They are typically considered one of the most important items in the late game. Elytra can only be found in End Cities within the End dimension, specifically in the treasure room of an End ship, placed in item frames and guarded by shulkers. When equipped, players can glide by pressing the jump key while in mid-air, and they can use firework rockets for additional propulsion, enabling them to travel longer distances. Elytra have durability and will degrade with use, but they can be repaired using phantom membranes on an anvil or by combining two damaged elytra on a crafting table. Players can also enchant elytra to enhance their capabilities, such as using Unbreaking for longer use or Mending to repair them automatically by collecting experience orbs. The design of the elytra is inspired by real-world beetle wing cases, providing players with a unique flight experience and enabling them to explore the world of Minecraft in unprecedented ways. Additionally, the appearance of the elytra can change depending on the cape the player is wearing, allowing for some personalization.
