An enchanted book is a special item in Minecraft that allows players to add enchantments to specific items using an anvil. Enchanted books can be obtained through various methods, including fishing as a "treasure" item, looting chests in dungeons, desert temples, and abandoned mineshafts, trading with librarian villagers, or crafting by enchanting a book at an enchantment table. Enchanted books can have a variety of enchantments, including "treasure" enchantments that are not normally obtainable through an enchantment table, such as Mending and Unbreaking. A primary use of enchanted books is to apply enchantments to items that cannot be directly enchanted at an enchanting table, such as shields. To use an enchanted book, the player must place the item to be enchanted and the enchanted book in an anvil and consume the corresponding experience points. Enchanted books can be combined to create more powerful enchanted books. Enchanted books themselves do not have any enchantment effects; their primary purpose is to transfer enchantments onto other items. Certain enchantments, such as Soul Speed, can only be obtained through bartering or looting. Enchanted books are relatively rare items in the game, but play a vital role in enhancing equipment and customizing the game experience.
