A Fire Charge is an item in Minecraft, introduced in Java Edition version 1.2.1. It functions similarly to flint and steel, used to ignite blocks, and can also be used as ammunition for dispensers, which launches a small fireball. Unlike flint and steel, fire charges are renewable but require material gathering for crafting. They can be found in loot chests near ruined portals, bartered from Piglins, or crafted using blaze powder, gunpowder, and coal or charcoal. Their primary uses include lighting blocks such as Nether portals, campfires, candles, and cakes with candles; acting as dispenser ammunition to launch fireballs that damage entities; and as a crafting ingredient for Firework Stars. Fire charges are vital for flexible fire manipulation and creating useful in-game items.
