A gold ingot is a metal ingot in Minecraft, primarily used for crafting various items and as currency for bartering with piglins. Gold ingots are mainly obtained by smelting gold ore, nether gold ore, or raw gold. They can also be obtained by mining nether gold ore, which drops gold nuggets. Gold generates more frequently in badlands biomes. Zombified piglins have a 2.5% chance of dropping a gold ingot when killed by a player or tamed wolf, and this chance increases with looting enchantment, up to 5.5%. Gold ingots are used to craft armor, weapons, and tools, though gold tools and armor have low durability, despite faster mining speed and better enchantability. Additionally, they're used in villager trades, as currency with piglins, repairing gold gear, and selecting effects for beacons. They are also found in loot chests within various structures such as dungeons, abandoned mineshafts, bastion remnants, buried treasure, desert pyramids, and more.
