Ink Sac
An ink sac is a common item in Minecraft, primarily obtained by killing squids. Each squid drops 1-3 ink sacs upon death, and using a weapon with the Looting enchantment can increase this number up to 6. Ink sacs are used to create black dye, books and quills, and dark prismarine in Bedrock Edition. Additionally, ink sacs can be used in banner patterns. In Bedrock and Education Editions, ink sacs can be used directly as dye. Ink sacs can also be used to revert glowing text back to its default appearance. Ink sacs are a rare “junk” item when fishing but can be obtained this way. Wandering traders sometimes sell ink sacs, while librarian villagers will buy them. The numerical ID for ink sacs is 351. Before version 1.13, ink sacs had a legacy item ID used with a data value, which is no longer used in later versions. Ink sacs are renewable, stackable up to 64 and are the darkest possible dye color in the game. Ink sacs are not only important crafting materials, but they are also historically significant. In earlier versions, the ink sac icon was even used as the dye icon.
