In Minecraft, an Iron Nugget is a renewable resource that was first added in version 1.11.1. Iron Nuggets can be obtained in several ways. The most common method is to place an Iron Ingot into a crafting grid, which breaks it down into nine nuggets. Additionally, Iron Nuggets can be obtained by smelting iron tools, weapons, or armor in a furnace. The durability and enchantments of these items do not affect the smelting outcome. Iron Nuggets can be used to craft Iron Ingots, where nine Iron Nuggets can be combined to make one Iron Ingot. They are also used in crafting items such as lanterns, soul lanterns, and chains. The Iron Nugget's texture is a palette swap of the Gold Nugget, flipped and colored light gray. Its texture also resembles a Ghast Tear. Piglins may barter 9-36 Iron Nuggets when given a gold ingot. Iron Nuggets are stackable, with a maximum of 64 per stack. They are renewable, as they can be obtained from Iron Ingots dropped by Iron Golems and occasionally zombies, and can also be found in village chests. Iron Nuggets are among the smallest items in the game and are often mistaken for Ghast Tears.
