Name Tag
In Minecraft, a name tag is an item used to name mobs. Named mobs do not despawn naturally, allowing players to keep specific animals or monsters. Name tags cannot be crafted and must be found through exploring dungeons, fortresses, or by fishing. Before use, a name tag must be renamed on an anvil for the cost of one experience level. Once renamed, players can use the name tag by right-clicking on a mob to give it a name. The named mob will display its name above its head and will not despawn like normal mobs. Name tags can also be used to mark important mobs, such as pets or monsters that need long-term observation. There are hidden easter eggs in the game, for example, naming a sheep “jeb_” will cause its color to continuously change, or naming any mob “Dinnerbone” or “Grumm” will make them upside down. Name tags are a very useful tool in Minecraft, not only helping players manage mobs, but also adding more fun to the game.
