Paper
Paper is a software designed to optimize Minecraft server performance, built upon Spigot, and focused on resolving vulnerabilities and mechanism inconsistencies in vanilla Minecraft. While improving performance, Paper aims to maintain the original Minecraft gaming experience, therefore, it takes a more cautious approach to optimization, avoiding unnecessary damage to server saves. Key features of Paper include: optimizing client view distance transmission, sending only the necessary chunk data; providing selectable optimized redstone mechanisms, reducing latency caused by redstone circuits; and adjusting entity tracking ranges and generation mechanisms to balance performance and gaming experience. At the same time, Paper fixes many vulnerabilities in vanilla Minecraft, such as item duplication and gravity block duplication. To better adapt to the needs of different servers, Paper allows server administrators to adjust these fixes through configuration, such as re-enabling duplication vulnerabilities. In addition, Paper also fixes Ender pearl exploits and some trading vulnerabilities, striving to provide a more stable and smoother multiplayer experience. The main differences between Paper and the vanilla Minecraft server are its optimized performance and bug fixes, but it retains most of the characteristics of vanilla Minecraft. For players who focus on the original experience, they can use the vanilla server directly or use the Fabric/Forge server.
