The Phantom Spawn Egg is a special item in Minecraft that allows players to instantly spawn Phantoms. Phantoms are flying, undead hostile mobs that spawn in the night sky when a player has not slept in a bed or died for three or more in-game days. They attack by diving at the player from the sky to bite them. Phantom Spawn Eggs are not obtainable in Survival mode; they can only be obtained in Creative mode or using commands. They can be found directly in the Creative inventory or by using the 'pick block' function on an existing phantom. When used, the phantom spawns directly at the clicked location and immediately plays its ambient sound. In Peaceful mode, phantoms spawn and immediately despawn. Phantom spawn eggs can also be used to change the type of mob spawned by a monster spawner. The phantom spawning mechanism is independent of biomes, which means they can spawn anywhere. Players can also use Phantom Spawn Eggs to name phantoms, and even make them upside down by naming them 'Dinnerbone' or 'Grumm'.
