Shield

In Minecraft, a shield is a defensive tool used to block damage from melee, ranged, and explosive attacks. Shields are crafted using one iron ingot and six wood planks. Players can equip the shield in their off-hand and activate it by right-clicking (Java Edition) or crouching (Bedrock Edition). When a shield blocks an attack, it reduces damage taken by the player but also depletes the shield's durability. Shields can block most projectiles, but are not completely effective against fire and other elemental attacks. Additionally, shields can be repaired on an anvil and decorated with banners. Attacking a defending shield with an axe can temporarily disable it. Shields are essential for survival in the game and provide effective defense in PVP battles.
