In Minecraft, the Sniffer is a passive mob that does not spawn naturally; it can only be obtained by hatching a Sniffer Egg. Sniffer Eggs can be found by brushing suspicious sand in warm ocean ruins, or they can be obtained by breeding two Sniffers. Sniffers sniff out and dig for torchflower and pitcher plant seeds in dirt, grass, and moss blocks. Sniffer eggs can be placed and will slowly hatch into a Snifflet (baby sniffer). Hatching is faster when the egg is placed on a moss block. Alternatively, players can use the Sniffer Spawn Egg to instantly spawn a Sniffer in Creative Mode; this item is dark red with green spots. Sniffers are passive and will not attack players, but they help find rare plant seeds, enabling players to grow more unique flora.
