In Minecraft, the Spyglass is a tool used to zoom in on distant objects. Players select it from the hotbar and click use to zoom in the desired direction. The spyglass changes the player's field of view (FOV) to 1/10 of the set FOV. The default FOV is 70° in Java Edition and 60° in Bedrock Edition, resulting in an FOV of 7° and 6° respectively when using the spyglass. The FOV can be set from 30° to 110°, so the spyglass FOV can range from 3° to 11°. When using the spyglass, a square vignette appears, similar to the effect of wearing a carved pumpkin. In Java Edition, pressing F1 removes the vignette. Distant objects remain hazy, and mobs too far to render are not shown. The spyglass magnifies what the player already sees. The player is slowed down while using it, and the interface closes automatically after one minute (1200 game ticks). The spyglass is crafted with 2 copper ingots and 1 amethyst shard.
