Armor stands are utility objects in Minecraft used to display wearable items, such as armor, carved pumpkins, elytra, or mob heads. They were added to the game in Java Edition 1.8 and Bedrock Edition 1.2.0. Players can use armor stands to hold armor, mob heads, carved pumpkins, and elytra. Armor stands do not have a GUI, but instead allow players to interact with them directly. They can be placed in different orientations, similar to signs or banners. Because armor stands are entities, they can be pushed by pistons, moved by flowing water, pulled with fishing rods, and bounced by slime blocks. Additionally, armor stands can be further customized with commands, such as adding arms, adjusting poses, ignoring gravity, dual-wielding items, and more. In Bedrock Edition, players can change the pose of the armor stand by crouching and interacting with it, with 13 possible poses. Armor stands can also change poses via redstone signals. Armor stands can be placed on non-full blocks, such as enchanting tables, snow layers, and slabs. They can display enchanted and all forms of dyed armor, but most enchanted armor effects do not work on armor stands, except for Frost Walker, Depth Strider, and Thorns. Armor stands are not damaged by cacti but can be broken by arrows. An armor stand destroyed by an explosion or a firework rocket does not drop items. Armor stands in water and lava at the same time are not consumed by the lava.
