Chicken
In Minecraft, chickens are passive mobs primarily found in grass biomes. They are a key source of raw chicken, feathers, and eggs. Chickens can be attached to leads and typically spawn in groups of four on grass blocks with two blocks of free space above and a light level of nine or higher. They do not spawn in deserts, snowy plains, ice spikes, snowy slopes, meadows, wooded badlands, jagged peaks, frozen peaks, or stony peaks. In the Java Edition, chickens are more common in sparse jungles. They also spawn individually after world generation, with 5% being baby chickens. In the Bedrock Edition, chickens require a light level of 7 or higher to spawn and appear in groups of two to four during world generation. Besides natural spawning, players have a 1/8 chance to hatch a baby chicken by throwing an egg. Chickens play a multi-faceted role in the game, serving as a food and resource source and being part of the world's composition. Furthermore, baby zombies or zombified piglins have a 5% chance of spawning riding a chicken, forming a "chicken jockey". The behavioral traits of chickens include wandering aimlessly, following players holding seeds, and their tendency to jump up stairs rather than climbing. Chickens also can avoid fall damage by flapping their wings to slow their descent.
