Endermites are small, hostile mobs in Minecraft, similar to silverfish but smaller, more cube-like, and purple. They have a 5% chance to spawn when a player throws an ender pearl. Endermites attack players with a melee damage of 1 point (half a heart). When killed by a player or a tamed wolf, they drop 3 experience orbs. They despawn within 2 minutes unless named with a name tag. In Java Edition, if an endermite is attacked, it becomes hostile to the attacker. In Bedrock Edition, endermites do not retaliate when attacked. Endermen are hostile to endermites, however, in Bedrock Edition, endermites attack endermen. Endermites are classified as arthropods and are affected by the Bane of Arthropods enchantment. They take suffocation damage on soul sand. Originally, they were intended to be a result of endermen teleportation, but this concept was scrapped. The entity data for endermites includes properties like lifetime. Overall, endermites are small but potentially dangerous mobs for players.
