The Iron Golem is a neutral mob in Minecraft that actively attacks hostile mobs to protect villagers. Players can create an Iron Golem by placing four iron blocks in a T-shape and then placing a carved pumpkin or jack o'lantern on top of the center upper block. Iron Golems also spawn naturally in villages with at least 10 villagers and 20 beds. In Java Edition, villagers can also summon Iron Golems when they are gossiping or panicking. Iron Golems are powerful mobs, immune to drowning and fall damage, and cannot be knocked back. They will attack creatures that attack them or villagers, but player-built Iron Golems will not attack players. Iron Golems sometimes hold poppies and offer them to villagers. When an Iron Golem is killed, it drops 3-5 iron ingots and 0-2 poppies. Iron Golems can also be found in cages at Pillager Outposts. Iron Golems differ slightly between Java and Bedrock Editions, such as spawning mechanisms and attack patterns. Players can utilize village mechanics to build Iron Golem farms for obtaining large amounts of iron ingots and poppies.
