A leash knot is a unique entity in Minecraft that is created when a player right-clicks a fence or wall while holding a mob on a lead. It attaches the mob to the fence or wall, preventing it from wandering off. Multiple leash knots can be attached to the same fence post, and the leashed mob will try to stay within a 5-block radius of the fence. Leash knots have a certain amount of durability and can be broken by explosions or projectiles, at which point the lead will drop. The maximum effective length of a lead is 10 blocks, and if exceeded, the lead will break and the leash knot will drop. This entity was added in Minecraft Java Edition snapshot 13w16a and Pocket Edition Alpha 0.15.0 build 1. In Minecraft, leash knots are not only functional entities but also provide players with more ways to control mobs, such as tying animals in specific places to prevent them from getting lost. It also supports player creativity, for example, players can suspend animals and use leash knots to hang them in the air.
