Sniffer

The Sniffer is a passive mob in Minecraft that does not spawn naturally and can only be obtained by hatching Sniffer Eggs. This ancient creature won the 2022 Minecraft Live mob vote and became a discoverable mob in the game. Players can find Sniffer Eggs in suspicious sand within warm ocean ruins, often unearthed using a brush. Once placed, Sniffer Eggs hatch into baby sniffers, known as Snifflets. Adult Sniffers use their sense of smell to find ancient seeds and dig them up using their noses; these seeds include torchflower seeds and pitcher plant pods. Players can use torchflower seeds to breed Sniffers, and placing the eggs on moss blocks speeds up hatching. The Sniffer’s primary purpose is to assist players in obtaining these unique decorative plant seeds, adding a new element of exploration and collection to the game. They are non-aggressive and friendly to players. Adult Sniffers drop 1-3 experience points when killed by players or tamed wolves. Additionally, the Sniffer's walking animation is inspired by centipedes, while its digging action is inspired by corgis, adding to its unique charm.
