Stray
In Minecraft, a Stray is a variant of the skeleton mob, commonly found in snowy biomes. They behave similarly to regular skeletons but use arrows with a slowness effect for ranged attacks. Strays typically spawn at night or in dimly lit areas within cold regions like snowy plains, ice spikes, or frozen rivers. Being hit by their arrows will temporarily slow players down, making combat more challenging. Strays have 20 health points (10 hearts), and upon defeat, may drop bones or arrows. During the day, Strays will burn when exposed to sunlight. They do not naturally spawn from monster spawners, but in the Java Edition, a skeleton can transform into a Stray after being in powder snow for a period of time. Strays also appear in Minecraft Dungeons, where they shoot freezing arrows that slow down players. Their appearance is similar to skeletons but with tattered clothing, indicating their adaptation to cold environments. These creatures add a unique challenge to the Minecraft world, especially in colder biomes.
