Birch trees are a common type of tree in Minecraft, similar in appearance to oak trees but with lighter bark and pale wood. They are most commonly found in birch forest biomes, with taller birch trees found in old-growth birch forest biomes. Normal birch trees can be grown by planting birch saplings and grow to about 5 to 7 blocks tall, while old-growth birch trees can reach up to 13 blocks. Birch trees lack branches and typically have 50 to 60 leaves. A birch tree near flowers may generate with a bee nest attached. In Bedrock Edition, fallen birch trees may appear as a single upright log or a stump, with logs lying nearby. Birch leaves are always the same color regardless of biome, though they turn white in snow. Birch wood can be used to craft items such as planks, sticks, and tools. Birch forest biomes are characterized by birch trees and are usually near other woodland biomes. Wolves do not spawn in birch forests.
