  • English: Canyon
In Minecraft, a canyon, also commonly known as a ravine, is a deep, long crack that naturally generates in the Overworld. Canyons often delve deep underground, and may connect with caves, and sometimes they break through to the surface, exposing underground cave systems. A typical canyon is between 85 and 127 blocks in length, and less than 15 blocks wide. In Java Edition, canyons typically range from 27 to 62 blocks in depth, while in Bedrock Edition, canyons can sometimes extend all the way down to the bedrock layer, especially in mountainous biomes. Lava sources may generate at the bottom of canyons that reach bedrock, and obsidian often forms where water flows into lava. Furthermore, canyons often feature water and lava flows and may expose ore veins, such as diamond ore. Canyons can also connect to other structures, such as abandoned mineshafts and dungeons. Canyons are a significant terrain feature in Minecraft, offering opportunities for resource gathering, exploration, and challenges.
