Clouds
Clouds in Minecraft are graphical effects in the game's sky, primarily serving an aesthetic purpose. They always move westward, which can help players determine their direction. The appearance of clouds varies depending on graphics settings, including "Fancy", "Fast", and "Off" modes. In "Fancy" mode, clouds appear as translucent, three-dimensional prisms, while in "Fast" mode, they become opaque two-dimensional planes. Regardless of the graphics settings, clouds appear semi-transparent when viewed from above or within the cloud layer. Additionally, players can change the shape, size, and color of clouds by modifying game files. Clouds typically float between layers 192 and 196 and do not interact with blocks or entities in the game. Despite appearing as part of the natural weather system, clouds themselves do not produce rain or snow; therefore, rain and snow will continue to fall even above the cloud layer. Clouds are rendered client-side, so the position of clouds may differ for each player on a server. The cloud position is retained when restarting the game and is persistent between worlds, meaning that if a player quits the current world and generates a new one and travels to the same coordinates they were in the previous world, the clouds appear in the same position as the previous world. Clouds are an important visual element in Minecraft, enhancing the overall gaming experience.
