Moon
In Minecraft, the moon is a celestial body visible in the night sky, rising in the east and setting in the west like the sun. Nighttime begins after the sun has fully set, with the moon rising in the east. As time passes, the moon moves westward across the sky. Night typically lasts about 7 minutes (real-time). Players can track the moon's position using a clock. During the night, the moon illuminates the surface similar to the sun, but light levels fall to a minimum of 4. Grass blocks and saplings do not grow in moonlight, nor do they decay. Growing them at night requires light sources such as torches. However, crops continue to grow. The moon goes through eight lunar phases, changing at the end of every sunrise, allowing players to roughly track time. Moon phases affect mob spawning; for example, slime spawns in swamps increase during the full moon. Additionally, the fuller the moon, the more likely skeletons and zombies are to pick up items and spawn with weapons and armor. The moon is not only a visual element in Minecraft, but also impacts gameplay through its lunar phases. There is also a joke dimension called "The Moon" which can be accessed by flying up to Y=700 in the Overworld. This dimension has weak gravity, and the player's oxygen decreases, but can be replenished by eating cheese.
