Languages:

  • Chinese: 山地
  • English: Mountain
In Minecraft, "Mountains" generally refer to areas composed of seven related sub-biomes that generate in mountainous terrain with low erosion values. These mountainous sub-biomes include the meadow, cherry grove, grove, snowy slopes, jagged peaks, frozen peaks, and stony peaks. These mountain biomes can generate pillager outposts (except for cherry groves in Bedrock Edition), with meadows also having the possibility of generating villages, and snowy slopes generating igloos. Goats are one of the few mobs that can naturally spawn in these biomes. Similar to windswept hills, emerald ores can be found in mountain biomes, especially at higher altitudes, and coal and iron ores are commonly found as well. Underground, below sea level, infested block blobs naturally generate in mountain biomes. Deep dark biomes and ancient cities also generate mostly under mountainous biomes, especially under jagged peaks, stony peaks, frozen peaks, snowy slopes, groves, cherry groves, meadows and savanna plateaus, but also to a lesser degree, under badlands, including eroded badlands as an eroded exception.
