Shipwrecks are common structures in Minecraft, simulating sunken sailing ships typically found in ocean biomes. They are not always intact, appearing upright, keeled sideways, or upside-down, with many missing their bow, stern, or masts. Constructed from wooden materials like logs, planks, fences, and stairs, shipwrecks can contain up to three chests filled with treasure. These chests are usually located in the bow (unless upside-down), stern, and other intact sections, containing supplies, treasures, and maps. While not rare, shipwrecks can occasionally generate above sea level, on beaches, snowy beaches, or inside icebergs, as well as within underwater ruins, monuments, or ravines. The wood types used per shipwreck are limited, usually a combination of two different wood types such as oak and spruce, or dark oak and jungle wood. Shipwrecks are not just places to explore and find loot, but also serve as sources of building materials, offering players wood, treasure, and opportunities for adventure.
