Snowfall
In Minecraft, snowfall is a weather phenomenon that occurs randomly in snowy biomes. Snowfall typically lasts for 0.5 to 1 Minecraft days, followed by a delay of 0.5 to 7.5 days. There are altitude restrictions for snowfall in snowy biomes. For example, in stony shore and windswept hills biomes, snow only occurs above layer 120, while in taiga and old growth spruce taiga, it only occurs above layer 160. Snow also occurs in certain areas of frozen ocean biomes, while other areas experience rain. Snowfall darkens the world, reducing the intensity of sunlight, but moonlight remains unaffected. Additionally, in snowy biomes, leaves turn from green to white, creating a frosted appearance. Snow weather also generates snowflake particle effects and snow layers on the ground. Snow layers can accumulate, with Java Edition by default generating only one layer which can be adjusted via game rules, while in Bedrock Edition, snow layers can naturally accumulate until reaching a maximum height.
