Spring
In Minecraft, a "spring" refers to a naturally generated liquid feature in the world, appearing as a single unit of fluid that flows out into spaces level with or lower than the source. There are three main categories of fluid springs: normal springs, ceiling springs, and hidden lava. Normal springs can generate on the sides of stone surfaces, and can be either water or lava, commonly found on cliffsides and inside caves. Lava springs are a common source of forest fires. Ceiling springs are exclusive to the Nether, and only generate as lava. They flow downwards from ceilings and are common in the Nether. Hidden springs, unlike the others, are hidden and require all adjacent blocks to be solid to generate. These are typically lava springs as well and can be dangerous when uncovered while mining in the Nether.
Additionally, there is an upcoming game update called "Spring Drop 2025" in Minecraft. This update includes new blocks such as leaf litter and wildflowers, as well as new mob variants like cold and warm pigs. These updates are available in Java Edition snapshots and as an experimental toggle on Bedrock Edition.
