Sun
In Minecraft, the sun is a celestial body that provides light for the Overworld. It rises in the east and sets in the west, along with the moon. When a player creates a new world, the time is set to dawn, and the sun starts on the horizon. As time passes, it slowly moves across the sky. When the sun sets, the moon rises. Daytime lasts 10 minutes (in real-time). Sunlight refers to the light, particularly sky light, which illuminates all blocks directly below the sky that are not shaded by opaque blocks or inclement weather. Sunlight affects mob spawning and behavior; for example, undead mobs such as zombies burn in sunlight. In different versions of Minecraft (such as Bedrock Edition), the sun might behave slightly differently, such as the sky darkening and the sun appearing larger when the player looks directly at it. Overall, the sun plays a crucial role in Minecraft, providing illumination, influencing the day-night cycle, mob spawning, and player survival.
