"Superflat" is a world type in Minecraft that, as its name suggests, provides a completely flat playing environment, contrasting with the varied terrain of normal worlds. In Java Edition, superflat worlds allow players to customize the composition of the layers, including block types, heights, and biomes. By default, a superflat world consists of one layer of bedrock, two layers of dirt, and one layer of grass blocks, and is mainly a plains biome. This world type is particularly suitable for building large structures or creating pixel art, as it eliminates the need for players to flatten terrain. Superflat worlds can also be set up on multiplayer servers by administrators. Although superflat worlds are highly customizable in Java Edition, the configuration is fixed in Bedrock Edition, and cannot be modified through the in-game interface. Superflat worlds also allow players to access other dimensions such as the Nether and the End. Survival in a superflat world also presents unique challenges, requiring players to rely on villages or specific resource acquisition methods.
