The Nether Wastes is the most common biome found in the Nether dimension of Minecraft. It's a barren, maroon-tinted biome composed mostly of netherrack, characterized by extensive lava seas and glowstone blobs hanging from the ceiling. Nether quartz, nether gold ore, and blackstone generate within the wastes, with rarer ancient debris found unexposed within the terrain. Gravel and soul sand are found along its coastlines. Most of the Nether's mobs, including ghasts, zombified piglins, magma cubes, striders, piglins, and occasionally endermen, can be found here. Nether fortresses and bastion remnants also generate in this biome. In Minecraft Dungeons, the Nether Wastes is the first other dimensions mission in the Flames of the Nether DLC, unlocking the Warped Forest and Basalt Deltas upon completion. It's described as an "infinite wasteland" scattered with strange relics, featuring nether brick ruins and bridges with mob spawners, as well as blackstone and netherite machinery, fire, volcanoes, crimson foliage, redstone lamps, magma blocks, and banners made of gold blocks.
