In Minecraft, the Savanna Plateau is an elevated biome, typically found adjacent to regular savannas. It is characterized by its flat, plateau-like terrain, scattered acacia trees, and olive-green grass. Unlike regular savannas, savanna plateaus do not generate villages or pillager outposts. Nonetheless, they are still common spawning locations for horses and llamas, and in the Java edition, it is the only savanna sub-biome where llamas spawn. It's characterized by the absence of precipitation, and therefore, no lightning strikes. It shares the olive-green vegetation with regular savannas, giving an illusion of dryness. In terms of survival, this biome is generally easy, as the acacia and oak trees provide reliable sources of wood, horses enable fast travel, and llamas can serve as pack animals. However, the vast amounts of tall grass can prove to be a nuisance when building a shelter and might be an obstacle when fighting hostile mobs. Previously, a shattered savanna plateau variant existed, which featured more extreme mountains and cliff terrain, but it was integrated into the windswept savanna in version 1.18.
