Windswept Hills are a rare biome in Minecraft, characterized by their varied terrain and high altitude. This biome typically generates in areas with high erosion, high PV, and high continentality, resulting in terrain that is sometimes flat, and sometimes shattered and mountainous. Cliffs in the Windswept Hills usually reach a height of Y-level 140, and above Y-level 120, snowfall begins, and water freezes. The grass and leaves in this biome have a distinctive aqua color. Apart from mountain biomes, Windswept Hills are one of the few places where emerald ore can be found. Additionally, like mountains, infested blocks with silverfish can generate underground. Oak and spruce trees generate sparsely, with grass, poppies, and dandelions scattered on the ground. Llamas also spawn in this biome. Windswept Hills can be challenging for beginners due to the heights that can cause fall damage and the higher elevations that bring snow and ice. However, survival becomes relatively easy once players adapt to the environment and find suitable shelter. The biome has two main variants: Windswept Forest and Windswept Gravelly Hills. Windswept Forests have more trees and vegetation, while Windswept Gravelly Hills are known for their gravel-covered terrain.
