Darkness
In Minecraft, the "Darkness" effect is a status effect that temporarily reduces the player's vision. It is triggered when a player activates a sculk shrieker or enters the detection range of a warden. The Darkness effect causes the player's vision to dim gradually, limiting the visibility to about 14 blocks. This effect differs from the Blindness effect, as it does not leave an unaffected area of vision around the player, and luminous objects are still visible even with the Darkness effect applied. Additionally, there are mods, such as "Afraid of the Dark" and "True Darkness," that enhance the game's darkness aspects. The "Afraid of the Dark" mod introduces new creatures, structures, and a research system where players explore dungeons and study dark magic. The "True Darkness" mod focuses on adjusting the game's brightness, making nights and caves much darker. The latest version of Minecraft also features a new biome called the "Pale Garden," which has unique trees, mosses, and creatures. These updates and mods add new exploration and challenges to Minecraft.
