Slow Falling is a status effect in Minecraft that significantly reduces the falling speed of entities and prevents fall damage. Introduced in update 1.13, the Slow Falling effect allows players to descend safely from heights and also negates fall damage from ender pearl teleportation. With Slow Falling, players can jump across gaps of up to 6 blocks while sprinting, compared to the normal 4 blocks. This effect also impacts elytra gliding, extending distance but decreasing speed without fireworks. Slow Falling can be acquired through various means like potions or arrows. Notably, it doesn’t prevent all forms of damage, such as ender pearl damage. The potion is brewed using a phantom membrane and an awkward potion, and its duration can be extended with redstone dust. The effect's duration varies depending on its source, with lingering potions having a shorter duration than regular ones. Overall, Slow Falling is an extremely useful effect for safe exploration and movement in Minecraft.
