Weakness
In Minecraft, "Weakness" is a status effect primarily used to decrease the melee damage of affected entities. In Java Edition, each level of Weakness reduces melee damage by 4 points. Negative levels of Weakness increase melee damage. In Bedrock Edition, the calculation of damage under the Weakness effect is slightly different. An important use of Weakness is in curing zombie villagers; players need to apply Weakness to a zombie villager using potions or arrows, followed by giving them a golden apple. Witches may also throw splash potions of Weakness at players when in close proximity. The duration of Weakness depends on the type of potion or arrow used. Players can remove the Weakness effect by drinking milk, or in Minecraft Education and Bedrock Edition, by drinking an elixir if education options are enabled. Notably, some mobs, such as passive mobs, withers, and ender dragons, are immune to Weakness. There are achievements and advancement challenges associated with the Weakness effect, such as "Zombie Doctor," which involves curing a zombie villager, and "A Furious Cocktail," which requires having multiple status effects at once. These aspects demonstrate the applications and gameplay related to Weakness in Minecraft.
