Yamcha (Japanese: ヤムチャ, Hepburn: Yamucha) is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga series created by Akira Toriyama. He is first introduced as a desert bandit in chapter #7 "Yamcha and Pu'ar" in Weekly Shōnen Jump on September 11, 1984, alongside his companion Pu'ar. Initially an antagonist, he eventually reforms and becomes an ally of Son Goku. Yamcha was initially portrayed as a gynophobic character, but this trait diminishes as the series progresses. A skilled martial artist, he is known for his signature technique the "Wolf Fang Fist," and also learns the Kamehameha and Spirit Ball techniques. In Dragon Ball Z, Yamcha is gradually outclassed by more powerful fighters, though he continues to offer assistance when needed. Despite this, he remains a popular and significant character in the Dragon Ball series, known for his iconic death scene and his status as one of Earth's strongest humans. He also makes appearances in Dragon Ball Super and Dragon Ball GT, as well as several Dragon Ball-related video games.
