Grandma Paozu (パオズばあちゃん) is a supporting character in the Dragon Ball series, a respected elder of Aru Village. She is the earliest known holder of the Six-Star Dragon Ball, a family heirloom passed down through generations. She gives the Dragon Ball to Goku and Bulma after they defeat Oolong and rescue the kidnapped girls. Grandma Paozu is later seen as a spectator at the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament alongside the Sherman Priest. In the anime, she is also present at the unveiling of the Protective Dome with the Sherman Priest and Pochawompa. The name "Paozu" comes from the Chinese word baozi, a type of steamed bun. Her character design is simple and kind, and she plays a role in advancing the plot in the early Dragon Ball stories, demonstrating her good nature through her help to Goku and Bulma. She also makes appearances in some video games, such as in Dragon Ball: Shenron no Nazo, where she is the second villager encountered.
