Pilaf, also known as Emperor Pilaf, is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball series, first appearing in the early arcs of the Dragon Ball manga and anime. He is a small, blue, imp-like creature who proclaims himself an emperor and desires to rule the world. Pilaf possesses his own castle and has two loyal followers: Shu and Mai. Despite his frequent incompetence, Pilaf has considerable resources, including technological equipment, robots, and an aerial fortress. He is eager to obtain the Dragon Balls to fulfill his ambition, which often leads him into conflict with Goku and his friends. Pilaf's personality is somewhat childish, often acting like a child, but at times he also demonstrates cunning. He appears many times throughout the Dragon Ball series and, although not very strong, has left a lasting impression on the audience as a comedic villain. He's also a significant supporting character who inadvertently caused Goku to revert to childhood in Dragon Ball GT.
