Captain Chicken, known as キャプテン・チキン in Japanese, is a minor character in the Dragon Ball franchise. He makes his debut in the 290th episode of the Dragon Ball Z anime, titled "Buu's Reincarnation," and in the final chapter of the manga. Captain Chicken is known for his peculiar superhero outfit and cowardly nature. He participates in the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, where he is originally scheduled to fight Kirano. However, upon witnessing the intense battle between Goku and Uub, he fabricates a story about a "damsel in distress" he needs to save, using this as an excuse to drop out of the tournament with some dignity. Captain Chicken's costume is inspired by American comic book heroes, featuring a white top, yellow striped tights, red shorts, and a cape that resembles chicken feathers. Despite posing as a hero, he is actually quite cowardly, often making excuses to avoid fighting. His name, "Chicken," which also means "coward" in English, alludes to his personality. He is a comedic character in the series and does not significantly impact the overall plot.
