Shin (シン), also known as the East Supreme Kai, is a significant character in the Dragon Ball series. He is one of the highest deities of Universe 7, responsible for overseeing the eastern area of both the living and the afterlife. Shin is characterized by his pink skin (purple in the anime), white mohawk, and elaborate Kai outfit, adorned with green Potara earrings. Initially presented as mysterious and powerful, calm, wise, and humble, his demeanor shifts as he grapples with the Saiyans' power and his own helplessness against Majin Buu, becoming more fearful and innocent. Shin's knowledge of the universe is not comprehensive; he is unaware of some key figures and abilities, such as Zeno and Ultra Instinct. He adheres to a moral standard for Supreme Kais, despising perversion and immoral behavior. His relationship with Beerus, the God of Destruction, is strained, marked by frequent disagreements. In the Majin Buu saga, Shin collaborates with Goku and others to prevent Majin Buu's revival. He once fused with his attendant Kibito, a fusion later reversed due to its permanence. Shin’s character arc in Dragon Ball showcases his growth from a somewhat inexperienced deity to a more mature and responsible figure.
