King Gurumes

King Gurumes (グルメス大王) is the main antagonist in the Dragon Ball movie, 'Curse of the Blood Rubies'. Initially the king of his own land, he is a small, ugly, bald-headed man. After discovering the blood rubies beneath his kingdom, he begins to mutate into an obese monster with an insatiable appetite. This mutation corrupts his actions, leading him to constantly order the excavation of the rubies to fund his desperate search for food. He concludes that only the Eternal Dragon can grant his wish to eliminate his hunger. He possesses four Dragon Balls and commands his henchmen to seize the others. By the story's end, Shenron restores him to his human form and cures his appetite. He is surprised by the taste of a simple apple, learning to appreciate basic foods. King Gurumes is one of the few movie villains in Dragon Ball not killed. His story illustrates how greed and desire can corrupt someone, and the value of simplicity. While a villain, his ending is relatively gentle, showcasing the diverse range of antagonists in the Dragon Ball series.
