Hwang Seong-gyeong, also known as ファン・ソンギョン, is a Korean swordsman in the Soulcalibur series. He first appeared in Soul Edge and returned in Soulcalibur and Soulcalibur III. Born into poverty, his parents' strong sense of justice led to their downfall. He trained at the Seong dojo, becoming one of their best students. He was once sent to find the "Sword of Salvation," the Soul Edge, but discovered it was evil. In Soulcalibur VI, Hwang returned as a downloadable character, with new moves and incorporating Taoist talisman magic, granting him special abilities in battle. Known for his strong sense of justice and swordsmanship, he frequently fights to protect his country and people. Across different timelines, he has battled the Soul Edge and related evil forces multiple times, always displaying exceptional courage and determination.
